May 1, 2010 - 2nd Annual Kenneth H. Francis Kayak & Canoe Race & Tour

The Crosswicks-Doctors Creek Watershed Association is sponsoring the 2nd Annual Kenneth H. Francis Kayak & Canoe Race & Tour on the Crosswicks Creek on Saturday May 1st, 2010 at 9:00 AM. The start is at Oakford Lake in New Egypt, NJ (approximately 90 minutes from northern NJ).

Experienced and non-competitive paddlers are urged to participate in this 2nd annual event. The race course covers a 9.1 mile Class-I section of the Crosswicks Creek. Varied widths, depths, twists and turns make this a challenging event. Touring paddlers will choose their own distance and pace on the race course.

The Bloody Run Canoe Classic, hosted on the Raystown Branch of the Juniata River Water Trail, is a yearly paddling event, and it is the main event that RCC hosts. One or two loops. Each loop is just over 6 miles. There is always plenty of water, and if water levels are good there is a channel that opens up for some good sprinting. 2010 PACK Championships. Lots of classes for all types of canoe and kayak types. There are food vendors, and some canoes and kayaks available for spectators to try out while the race is in progress.

August 14, 2010 - Mayor's Cup New York City Kayak Championship

The Mayor's Cup New York City Kayak Championship is an elite marathon paddling race around Manhattan Island. This 28 mile marathon race is fast becoming North America's premier paddle sports event and soon to be New York City's largest water event. The Mayor's Cup draws some of the world's and the regions most accomplished paddlers. This Mayor's Cup has elite classes as well as enthusiast classes and all talented paddlers are welcome to participate.

The course is a full circumnavigation of Manhattan Island starting on the Hudson River. The combination of 28 miles in distance, very unpredictable sea states and extremely busy commercial traffic lends itself to one of the toughest courses in North America.

$15,000 in CASH, $20,000 in prizes, International competition and an experience of a lifetime.
