- 1 lb cut up lean stew beef (chuck, sirloin tips, etc.)
- 1/2 lb baby-cut carrots
- 2 ribs celery, cleaned and chopped... See More
- 3 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cups fresh mushrooms (optional)
- 2 packets of dry brown gravy mix (we use the Aldi brand)
- 1 cup water
- 2-3 cups tomato juice, more or less (we like V8)
EditPreparation
Everything should be cut into bite sized pieces. You can double or triple the recipe.
Toss everything in the pot, mix.
Cook in 2 quart Dutch Oven for 2 hours or until meat is tender. Gravy should thicken as it cooks.
Serve with Italian bread for sopping up the gravy.
